Hehr Windows in a VW !

On a surfing trip up to the North Devon coast, I spied this rather fine VW camper in the carpark
Apart from being in very fine condition it was the windows that caught my eye - Hehr Windows !
I've never seen them in a VW before
Apparently she was a Californian import, so maybe they are more common out there
Rather fine and a nice paint job too

Larmerland

Time for the Flying Cloud's first outing this year (we've been relaxing so hard in her, I've been a little slow in posting - so this was back in July)
We headed off to the wonderful Larmer Tree Festival in Dorset
For a long weekend of music, old friends & relaxed lunacy
Its a 2hr tow but with the cruise set on 58 (don't ask me why, but I stay just shy of 60 !) she towed like an arrow; never a weave or sway
The dinette was half-finished. We had the seat cushion foam but no covers, so some green throws did the job for now. I had planned to have ply seat backs but seeing the back cushions fit the curve of the trailer so nicely, I think we may keep them like that.
I'm also very glad that I kept the original shelf & drawers as they were incredibly useful for storage...and where else would the flowers go ?
We'd also hit the best July heatwave Britain had seen in years
Hurrah !!!
Perfect for headliners; Van Morrison...
Richard Thompson...
& Dexy's Midnight Runners - to name but a few.
Despite no aircon (we're not fitting any & the festival has no hook-ups) she was cool in the heat and pleasantly warm at night. So the new insulation was well worth it.
And still happy we did strip & shine the endcaps
Not quite the Flying Cloud's 50's era but a decade before - the Spitfire Sisters reviving the sounds of the war years

The awning is still in the pipeline but for now the umbrella gave us a little shade.
Though hats helped too...

She was much admired - though the experts amongst you will spot lots of work still to be done (where are the Propane tanks ?) - especially as she was the only Airstream in attendance, so a few tours were given
...and your's truly still need a little work too !

We've been going to the Larmer Tree for about 12yrs & while its not Glastonbury, we love it.
A brilliantly raucous set from Bellowhead rounded off Sunday night
...we'll be back next year - same weather please.
